Words of the Wise

“Life is a tapestry woven by the decisions we make.”
― Sherrilyn KenyonKiss of the Night
This section of the blog is dedicated to the stories of current medical/dental/pharmacy or veterinary students. I hope their stories and strategies will be of assistance and motivation to you in your application process to the school of your choice. And of course a place for you to escape my ramblings (not that you should want to...).

The Road To Becoming a Doctor

I recently published a post regarding the MCAT here. This is the first installment in this section of the blog and it pertains to the MCAT and the overall process of applying from a friend of mine, who will remain anonymous.

Life as an IMG

Welcome once again to the second installment in this section.

Carmen is a friend of mine who attends Ross University in Dominica and in the post (click on the title) she outlines how she adjusted to life as a Caribbean Medical Student and an IMG.

With Step 1 exam time coming up this year, our next installment in this section will be on preparing for the USMLE Step 1 after the pre-clinical year of medical school. Once again Carmen will provide advice for sitting the examination as an IMG. Feel free to post your comments and how you plan on preparing for the examination.

“Desires dictate our priorities, priorities shape our choices, and choices determine our actions.”
― Dallin H. Oaks

I can recall a quote I've seen a number of times as I studied for my clinical laboratory science degree which said "you don't have to be a doctor to work in a hospital". True indeed. Even more true is that you don't have to  attend a traditional  medical school to be a very good or great doctor either. Depending on where you live in the world you apply, enter and graduate from medical school and attain an M.B.B.S, or you can attend a naturopathic school and attain an N.D. or attend an Osteopathic Medical School and attain a D.O. This installment of Words of the Wise comes from Morgan a current D.O. student and blogger at Heart Work. She will be shedding some light on the similarities and differences between a D.O and an M.D. as well as sharing some of her most memorable moments in her journey thus far in a Q & A styled interview.
